I have an ATFY (VN V6) memcal here and need to convert it to V8. If I cut the 2 resistor legs as per Dec_heads' pic above will the memcal still retain limp home and knock filtering? I need knock filtering as hte car I'm tuning is an HSV with a factory knock sensor.

Failing not having knock filtering on the memcal is it a simple case of a trip to Jaycar for some resistors or the like and a solder job or are the parts car specific?

the limp settings will be suited to v6 so wont run right on a v8 if you hit limp mode. the v6 knock filter is beyond useless on a v8, you will be getting false knock everywhere.

Just found out that my mate whos car I'm tuning bought a new knock sensor during the rebuild and it came with a V8 knock board.

If I de solder the V6 knock board, cut the 2nd and 5th resistor post as per Dec_heads pic and then re solder the new V8 knock board will it be a correctly functioning V8 Memcal with limp home and correct knock features?

I know it seems like alot of trouble but I'd rather go through these excercises to get my skills up.

The top pic is the New V8 knock board and the bottom is the V6 Memcal as it is now

yes it will funciton as a v8 memcal and knock sensor, no its limp mode will still be set to v6 settings and will run like poo. whether or not you will notice... who knows, they run like poo in limp mode anyway.

edit: actually I only cut the 5th leg. look at the diagram between the v6 and v8 netres, that is the only difference for cylinder selection.

O.k., so cut the 5th 15k leg and swap the V6 knock board for the V8 one and kiss limp home mode good bye lol. Sounds like a plan

You will also have to change the eprom too if you plan on using 12p. ATFY is only 128k good for VN - VP

PS My records show that a knock buffer starting with "2U" is for a V6.

Yeah the U model filters have been found on V6's so might need to check it out further to confirm ... viewtopic.php?f=28&t=739&hilit=2h

Would be great to have a definitive list of what filter is for what as there is a fair amount of conflicting info around - not to mention dodgy sellers like yoda69 found in the linked thread.

as far as i was aware the code on the knock board is the date code
